Located in East Central Florida, Hoof & Horn LaManchas is dedicated to herd improvement through conscientious breeding and management programs. Our breeding program is being developed to promote LaManchas that are structurally correct, worthy of the show ring, and productive on the milk stand. In addition, we strive to produce dairy goats that are capable of producing offspring that are solid improvements upon the genetics of their dam & sire, and reliably maintain body condition and strength throughout their lifetime.

 

At Hoof & Horn Farm, we practice a CAE prevention program, every birth is attended and kids are raised on CAE negative and pasteurized milk. The herd is tested yearly for CAE, and the herd is currently NEGATIVE.

We provide our does with a 16% custom mixed dairy ration created by Luznar Feed Mills, Perennial Peanut Hay, and free choice browse on a Bermuda grass pasture.  We worm only when needed, to avoid building a resistance to wormer formulas, and we rotate products.  We also use in our program Triangle 9 + HS and vaccinate twice yearly against Enterotoxemia (CD/T). BoSe is provided on a "as needed" basis. 

 

The Hoof & Horn herd is on Linear Appraisal, and scores are recorded on each goat's individual page. We are currently participating in the Dairy Herd Improvement program, and those milk scores will become available as scores are published.
